Mario Kart 8 Sells 1.2 Million, Becoming Wii U"s Fastest-Selling Game - Webmaster News

New Post has been published on http://www.outils-webmaster.eu/mario-kart-8-sells-1-2-million-becoming-wii-us-fastest-selling-game/

After launching late last week, Mario Kart 8 has become the Wii U’s fastest-selling game ever with more than 1.2 million units already sold worldwide, Nintendo announced today. This number is according to the company’s internal sales data and accounts for sales in the Americas, Europe, and Japan.Nintendo made no mention of how the game has impacted sales of the beleaguered Wii U console itself, although UK retail tracking group GFK Chart-Track announced on its own today that Wii U hardware had seen a 666 percent sales boost in the UK over the weekend. No specific sales figures were shared in the GFK report, but 82 percent of hardware sales were said to be the Mario Kart 8 bundle.

Nintendo had been hoping that Mario Kart 8 would serve as a “catalyst” for sales of the Wii U, which has struggled to live up to expectations thus far. As of March 31, only 6.17 million Wii U systems had been sold worldwide since its launch in November 2012, a number that is well behind the 9 million it expected to sell between April 2013 and March 2014.

“The early response to Mario Kart 8 demonstrates that the best days for Wii U are still ahead,” said Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime as part of today’s announcement. “This year’s E3 is just days away, and it will be all about the future games for Nintendo platforms. This milestone is a great place to start!”

The Mario Kart games have routinely been among Nintendo’s best-selling titles; according to Nintendo, series sales eclipsed 100 million as of the end of March. Mario Kart 8′s sales make it one of the best-selling games on Wii U; it’s roughly on par with the 1.22 million copies of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD sold, but for now trails the platform’s top sellers, New Super Mario Bros. U (4.16 million), Nintendo Land (3.09 million), and Super Mario 3D World (2.17 million).

Along with the new Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart 8 was one of the two major Wii U releases on the horizon from Nintendo. The game features high-definition graphics for the first time in series history, as well as improved online play and a new Mario Kart TV replay feature (providing us with video of phenomenal moments such as this). Gamers who buy the game and register it on Club Nintendo by the end of July will receive a free digital copy of select Wii U games, while everyone is free to be creeped out by the live-action Mario being used to advertise the game’s Mercedes Benz GLA crossover in Japan.

If you picked up Mario Kart 8 this weekend, were you already a Wii U owner, or was this the game to finally get you to pick one up?

Amanda Seyfried and Charlize Theron’s Height Difference Is Ridiculous at the “A Million Ways” Photo Call - Webmaster News

New Post has been published on http://www.outils-webmaster.eu/amanda-seyfried-and-charlize-therons-height-difference-is-ridiculous-at-the-a-million-ways-photo-call/

Amanda Seyfried and Charlize Theron attended a photo call for their latest movie, A Million Ways to Die in the West in London, England on Tuesday. We are almost always stunned by these two actresses’ photo-op looks, however, this time, we just couldn’t overlook the huge height difference between Amanda and Charlize in the pictures. Check it out — the disparity is almost to the point of ridiculousness:

And this is even after putting Amanda in skyscraper stilettos and Charlize in itty-bitty kitten-heel stumps. Nice try, stylists, but no dice. To be fair to Amanda, it is difficult not to be dwarfed standing next to statuesque Charlize, which a host of celebrities including Kristen Stewart and Sean Penn can attest to.

Posing on their own, Amanda and Charlize blew us away with their ensembles, as per usual. Amanda took the edgy route in an Alexander McQueen pre-fall 2014 LBD with ornate gold embellishments and a zip-off bottom hem. Charlize was the classy casual lady in a Stella McCartney kimono-top LBD, which looked deceptively plain at first but actually had a python texture.

Amanda’s vertiginous 120-mm. heels are by Giuseppe Zanotti. We spotted the same exact style most recently on Adriana Lima. A red-strapped version with lower 110-mm. heels is available at Zappos.

As for Charlize’s kitten heels, they are the Loeffler Randall “Lillit” sandals. Charlize’s black nubuck variation is currently marked down at Zappos and Shopbop. An electric blue color can be found at Amazon, while a silver version is up at Zappos.

Star Citizen funding hits $44 million milestone - Webmaster News

New Post has been published on http://www.outils-webmaster.eu/star-citizen-funding-hits-44-million-milestone/

Wing Commander creator Chris Roberts’ Star Citizen has just reached yet another funding milestone. The game’s widely successful crowdfunding campaign has now raised a staggering $44 million, up from $43 million in late April.

In a letter to the community, Roberts said that his team is hard at work on Arena Commander, a small, multiplayer-focused dogfighting mode that should launch on May 29. “Getting to dogfight in deep space is going to make Star Citizen real for a lot of people,” Roberts said. “But I also know that everyone who has supported us to this point already understands. Thank you for getting us here!”

To mark the occasion, Roberts shared a piece of concept art for what he calls the “negotiation room,” a place in one of the games’ ships where traders can meet with other players, display their cargo, and make deals.

All backers who contributed to Star Citizen before this point will get an additional “Stellar Cartography” room added to their hangers once the modular room system launches. This room will serve as a kind of map, featuring a 3D holographic representation of the game’s universe that will get more detailed as you explore it.

Roberts revealed that If Star Citizen hits $46 million in funding, backers will get an updated scanning software suite, which could provide them with information on where to find resources.

Star Citizen is due to launch in full sometime in 2015. A total of 453,429 people have backed the project so far.
