Usually, wearing a black dress on the red carpet is a surefire way to avoid making the worst-dressed list. But not this week.

Stars struck out in black ensembles left, right and center, leaving us begging for color over the past couple of days. Angelina Jolie’s gown looked like something she made out of garbage bags, while Emily Blunt’s busy black top and skirt left us wishing she had scaled back.

Jolie often plays it so safe that she neither lands on the best nor the worst-dressed list, but this week her garbage bag-esque gown left us speechless. Not only is the fabric terrible, but the gathering at the hip just makes matters worse.

Emily Blunt

Between the leather, the sheer panels, the mock neck and the crop top, there is way too much going on here.

Milla Jovovich

The bottom of Jovovich’s dress looks like a papier mache project of a second grader.

Naomi Campbell

Did Campbell’s dress go through a shredder? That would be the only explanation.

Marion Cotillard

This dress is very “Little House on the Prairie” with the frumpy silhouette and the turtleneck. On the runway, the gown was shown unlined, which was much prettier and didn’t look so dowdy. But of course, in real life this needs a slip. This is an outfit that is best left to the catwalk.

Who knew Stone was moonlighting as a belly dancer?

Paz Vega

The “Grace of Monaco” star could have looked so pretty had she not worn that ginormous bow on her gown. Less is more, Vega.

We totally support a girl’s decision not to wear heels, but sneakers don’t work in every life situation — namely at a dinner party where other people are wearing tuxedos. We wish Stewart had opted from some cute flats and possibly a top that didn’t wash her out so much.

It was one of the best weeks of the year in Hollywood — at least when it came to the outfits!

Emily Blunt hit it out of the park not once but twice, Elle Fanning looked like a modern-day princess in a sparkly gown and Chloe Grace Moretz wore what could easily be our most favorite look ever.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Emilio Pucci

There are a few things that are amazing about this dress. First of all, the color. Yellow is exceptionally difficult to pull off because if you pick the wrong shade, it can look awful against your skin tone. But this canary yellow gown is magnificent on the model, as is the expert draping and the subtle cut-outs.

Elle Fanning in Elie Saab

Fanning plays a princess in her latest film “Maleficent,” but in real life, she also looks like royalty. The actress stunned in this off-the-shoulder periwinkle embellished gown which was contrasted nicely by her tough-girl choker.

Emily Blunt in Osman

This dress is striking because of the rich colors, scalloped neckline and calf-length hemline. The fit is spot on, as was her choice to wear pink pumps. A+, Blunt.

Charlize Theron in Stella McCartney

Yes, this may be a simple look, but Theron looks damn sexy. The short hemline on her LBD is balanced out perfectly by its boxy silhouette and longer sleeves, while her red lipstick and strappy heels seal the deal.

Chloe Grace Moretz in Chanel

This is possibly the best outfit of 2014. The wide-leg pants paired with the knit panel is so chic and unexpected, while the crop top with black trim and straw hat makes her look like the picture of summer. We wish we could dress like this every single day.

Heidi Klum in Jenni Kayne

Jumpsuits are nice for spring and this color-blocked one Klum is wearing is a great example. Though the fit on the bodice could be slightly better, we are willing to give it a pass since the hair, makeup and shoes are perfect.

Emily Blunt in Prada

Not only does this ensemble feature our favorite color-combo (red and pink), but it looks as though this dress was made for Blunt– it fits her like a glove.
